Sulfur from the old Perticara mine, Perticara, Italy
This is one of the most known sulfur mines in Italy. It produced some of the largest crystallized sulfur of the past century, with crystals up to 20-25 cm in length. Most of the hystory of this locale can be found on the recent issue of Min. Rec. 2002. Here you can find some of the specimens obtained from an old collection that I aquired few months ago. No specimens can be extracted from the mine which is closed and no more accessible.

This rock hosts a complex crystal of sulfur of 1.4 cm. The cluster is formed by several crystals one over the other.

This rock has several very nice 0.3-0.5 cm sulfur crystals located in some cavities of the matrix. The color is bright yellow, with some natural bitumen on one side. Good specimen !

The contrast of the yellow on the black is really showy. These crystals are in the range of 0.8 cm, unfortunately the one on the right is partially complete but the other is perfect. There is a smaller one on the left. Real showy.
