SAN PIERO, ISOLA ELBA - Spessartite is quite uncommon inside the pegmatites of Isola Elba and the only specimens found were collected while working at the rosina dike in 1994. This specimen is from that finding and shows several quartz and great bright feldspar crystals up to 2.5 cm with half a dozen spessartite crystals close to them. The spessartite show the classic orange color and are up to 0.7 cm ! overall size is 5x7x5 cm.
SAN PIERO, ISOLA ELBA, ITALY - Spessartite has been found inside the pockets of the Elba pegmatites only in few occasions. The last one was in 1994 when the Rosina dike was found and exhausted ! This specimen is from that finding. There is a nicely terminated crystal of 0.4 cm and smaller one close to it. Overall size is 4.5x3x2 cm.
BACINO MINE, RIO MARINA, ISOLA ELBA, ITALY - This specimen hosts various 0.5-1 cm hematite crystals, some of them in an open cavity. Very bright crystals on blocky hematite ! Overall size is 5x5.5x4 cm.
PORTICCIOLO, RIO MARINA, ISOLA ELBA, ITALY - Nice coating of prasio quartz on a crystalline hedembergite matrix. The prasio crystals have a nice green color and are up to 1.5-1.7 cm in size. Overall soze of this specimen is 8.5x6.5x4.5 cm.
