SAN BENITO GEM MINE, SAN BENITO CO., CA, USA - Quite large though not perfect benitoite crystal. The crystal is 1.1 cm in size on the edge and shows a nice blue color though it shows a damage on the top. Nevertheless a large crystal ! Overall size is 3x3x2 cm.

There is a terminated blue crystal of benitoite of 1 cm on the edge, well exposed on the riolite rock and some other partial benitoites. A couple of neptunite show on the back of the rock. Benitoite Gem Mine, San Benito County, California, USA - This mineral is among the rarest and unique ! Jonesite occurs only at this mine where Benitoite occurs. Unfortunately, now, the mine is closed for good. No way to get more material ! This specimen hosts various small, well exposed cluster of jonesite crystals close to 1 mm in size, more than large for this species ! close to them there are also some partial neptunite and benitoite crystals and some tiny joaquinite crystals, orange in color. Overall size is 12x7x5 cm.
