Facciatoia, San Piero, Isola Elba, Livorno, Italy - An old specimen from the historical quarry of Facciatoia, now defunct. There is a 0.4 cm terminated pink/red elbaite inside a cavity of the pegmatite vein. Lot of quartz crystals all around and a grey orthoclase. The grey color is a classic for Facciatoia. San Piero, Isola Elba, Livorno, Italy - On the border of an open cavity, there is a terminated bicolor elbaite 0.7 cm long. Inside this cavity a bigger elbaite shows nicely together with some smaller ones ! A nice specimen of 6.5x4.5x3.6 cm

Grotta d'Oggi, San Piero, Isola Elba, Livorno, Italy - Lot of minerals on the same rock ! Though the 1.5 cm long elbaite is incomplete, there are a lot of other uncommon minerals on this rock. Indeed other than to nice and well shaped orthoclases to 1 cm on the edge and quartz up to 1.5 cm, there various groups of bright metallic cassiterites and on several quartz crystals there are a lot of gemmy waterclear bubbles of opal var jalite. Very interesting rock of 7.5x4.5x3.5 cm

San Piero, Isola Elba, Livorno, Italy - Greatly terminated elbaite crystal nicely located on orthoclase small piece of matrix. The crystal shows greatly with nice change of color close to the top where it is with a light violet. The crystal is 1.7 cm in size !

San Silvestro dike, San Piero, Isola Elba, Livorno, Italy - San Silvestro has been one of the oldest pegmatite vein worked at the San Piero area, aftwer the Speranza quarry. Now it is exausted and almost no traces are left of its location. This specimen is from my personal collection. There are 3 perfectly terminated elbaites ! the main crystals are 0.5 cm in size and show a deep brown/green color while the top is light green. The smallest elbaite is located just below the other 2 crystals, with the same aspect. Very nice thumbnail. Great esthetics ! overall size is 2.2x2.2x1.8 cm.

Grotta d'Oggi, San Piero, Isola Elba, Livorno, Italy - An old specimen from a german collection. This specimen is characterized by a biterminated quartz crystal of 2 cm in length with a lot of albite cluster all around it and among them there are a couple of perfectly terminated multicolor elbaites up to 0.6 cm in size. There are also some brown millimetric microlites, beryls dispersed among the albites and the books of cleavelandite. Very nice old timer of 5x4x2.5 cm.
